This will enable you to see your faults, and if necessary, we will do video analysis as well.

Neurological Deficits: Over are many years of experience, we have treated many common and rare neurological conditions. Some of the most common examples are neuropathies in the extremities, and less common examples are MS, Parkinson's Disease, Traumatic Brain Injury, and Stroke. We are experts at regaining function, and improving balance, gait, and coordination.

Pre and Post-Operative Care: Mile Square provides our patients with comprehensive care before and after surgery. For many orthopedic surgeries, studies have found that pre-operative care can help improve post-operative outcomes. Additionally, we will let you know what to do and expect after surgery. Post-operatively, we work with your surgeon and use the most effective, and well researched treatment protocols to return you to a healthy lifestyle.

Sprains/Strains: A sprain is a stretching or tearing of a ligament, and a strain is a stretching or tearing of a muscle or tendon. Ligaments attach bone to bone, and tendons attach muscle to bone.Treatment depends on the joint involved and the severity of the injury. Our goal is tohelp facilitate healing and prevent or reduce scar tissue. When you have a sprain or a strain, the body repairs itself with scar tissue. Scar tissue is a tough, inflexible, fibrous material that binds the damaged tissue together. This tissue is not as strong as the tissue it is replacing, making that tissue weaker, and it is inflexible, reducing that muscle or ligament's flexibility. If not addressed, this can lead to chronic re-injuring of the area. We utilize deep manual techniques and ultrasound to break up the scar tissue and return the damaged tissue to a healthy state.

Balance and Safety Issues: Gait and balance issues affect many of us as we get older. The greatest concern with this is falling. Something that seems like a small issue, such as difficulty lifting your foot over the curb, or over a crack in the sidewalk, can lead to falls. Falling can lead to a myriad of much worse conditions such as a fractured wrist or hip.

Some common causes of a decrease in your balance may be a result of osteoarthritis, orthostatic hypotension, or medications you may be taking. We will help retrain your brain and body to move more effectively and safely. We will also assess you for assistive devices if necessary, such as a cane or a walker.

Deconditioning: This can happen to people of all ages due to living a sedentary lifestyle. The demands of your job, a medical condition, or a hospital stay, can lead to a period of inactivity that can cause your body to become deconditioned.Deconditioning can be identified by decreased muscle mass, decreased strength, muscle shortening, and decreased mobility. We will help reverse these effects by slowly introducing an exercise program that will address your entire body. We will improve your strength and endurance gradually, understanding that every person has a different exercise tolerance.

Pain Management:Physical therapy helps to relieve pain, promote healing, and restore function and movement. We may utilize passive modalities such as heat, ice, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and/or iontophoresis, or we may utilize active treatments such as massage, joint mobilizations, stretching, strengthening, and aerobic conditioning.

Industrial/ Work Related Injuries: Many of us have demanding jobs, or jobs with repetitive movements that can lead to injury. We work with you (or your employee) to get you free from pain and back to work. We can offer ergonomic advice and/orprovide an ergonomic consultation. We also offer work hardening as well as FCE's (functional capacity evaluations).

Motor Vehicle Accidents: If you have been in a motor vehicle accident, you know it is not just the car that gets damaged. Neck and back injuries such as whiplash or herniated discs are amongst things that can result. We are experienced with working with motor vehicle insurance companies and lawyers in order to provide you what you need.
